The Florist Astilbe & Sorrel was launched in April 2014 at The Walled Nursery in Hawkhurst, Kent. Sophie Hill, who owns and runs the business, works to create stunning, natural bouquets and arrangements in her unique style, working with colour, texture and scent that are carefully sourced. Local delivery is available for bouquets, and weddings, parties and funerals across Kent and Sussex.
With a background in music journalism, writing for children, events, and working as a PA for a large private property in East Sussex, Sophie’s creativity and eye for colour & detail blossomed.
Whilst working at the private house, Sophie started to play around with flowers grown in their cutting garden, which is where the fascination began. Following her instincts she started to take training courses and work on private commissions from home. Within 6 months she had established Astilbe & Sorrel.
The business is going from strength to strength, having been awarded Florist Newcomer of the Year 2015 by the British Florist Association.
Astilbe & Sorrel is quickly being the go-to Florist for Benenden Girls School, Marlborough House, Vinehall and of course St. Ronan’s School which is situated on the same site as her workshop and shop. Astilbe & Sorrel is set in high regard locally, and her arrangements are very much sought after, with many clients enjoying her offer of fresh “Flowers for a Year”.
Sophie is often requested to run floral workshops. So later this this summer/Autumn she is set to expand and offer a range of courses in arranging cut flowers for the home. Perhaps that could be another fantastic gift idea for someone special in your life ?

Astilbe & Sorrel will be providing the opportunity for visitors at the forthcoming Edmondson Interiors Event in their Goudhurst showroom, next Thursday 14th April from 6-9 pm, to purchase one of the Spring wreaths that Sophie will be creating throughout the evening. They make stunning front door or table decorations.
