Can you have a bespoke, traditional contemporary kitchen? Edmondson Interiors believe this stunning new kitchen they have designed and created for a beautiful Kent country home is just that.
We also think this carefully designed painted kitchen achieves perfect harmony with the gardens and fields that surround this Weald of Kent period home.
The home is surrounded by unspoilt meadow with long wavy grasses which can be seen through the ample windows of this modern wooden-framed Kitchen extension. The beautiful colour palette of greys and greens seen in the surrounding countryside are reflected in the kitchen. There are shades of grey, tawny floor colours, weathered zinc on the table, and touches of other brighter teal blues and green colours in pictures and cushions and accessories. In the winter the lightness of the room is exactly what is needed. White painted ceiling trusses, lots of windows and French doors maximise the winter light which lifts the soul.
This classic contemporary kitchen is above all a keen reflection of the couple who commissioned Edmondson Interiors to build them a bespoke family kitchen. They are both keen cooks, busy family orientated people, lovers of garden and wine and entertaining friends. Like so many of our clients they returned to work with Edmondson Interiors having had a previous kitchen and bespoke shop counter built by us for their clothing shop in Tenterden.
The island and the space around it and the oak bar has been designed and made meticulously. Look at the pan drawer detail. Easy to use, not overly stacked, a joy. The cooking appliances cover all that one might ask for.
Edmondson Interiors signs off how each cupboard is going to be used with the client. This is time consuming but the result is evident. With organisation and planning the end of crowded cupboards can be achieved!
Take the bench seat next to the Sub- Zero fridge. This is not just a pretty detail. The natural light for a search through a recipe book is behind you. It is a ‘room with a view’ window, add a glass of wine and enjoy the moment.
The glass wall cladding at the back of the work surfaces has brought a subtle improvement to the overall design. It is practical and simple and contemporary. We like the reflective quality it has. This is not something you walk into the kitchen and notice it just adds something extra to the design. The same thing occurs with the pendant lights over the island. They are rubber! Our clients smile if they talk about them.
The utility room is simple it echoes the kitchen yet is more New England in style. The floor is the same as the kitchen; simple large format porcelain tiles from Domus which we have in our showroom in Goudhurst, Kent. No sealing required and the easiest of floors to keep clean.
Under the coir mat at the back door is the access to the cellar where we have constructed wine racks stained black for our clients to store their collection of fine wines.
All in all. Another beautiful kitchen, utility room and wine storage area created by the the team at Edmondson Interiors.
