Simplicity was the key element to the success of this project. Our designer Simon Gray met with the owners of the house very early on in the process to ensure that every opportunity was explored in the transformation of what was quite a cramped space. The existing kitchen was clumsy and broke the flow of movement towards the dining room and garden thereafter.
A leap of faith is required when trying to visualise a space that doesn’t exist. Simon was able to see the potential of the new kitchen and translate this into a fantastic modern interior. With the use of careful planning and 3D visualisation we were able to create a space that makes the most of every inch available.
Very soft natural oak finish with a continuous grain stretches around the whole island. The island has a very tactile feel to it and invites you to run your hand along the grain. Each and every door and drawer fascia is edged with solid oak and then lacquered with a 2% sheen. The shallow recess to the Silestone worktop elevates and accentuates the slim 20mm surface.
The contrast of the oak is heightened by the use a satin lacquer on the outside runs with a hint of solid oak framing to tie it into the rest of the kitchen.
Large Gaggenau 400 series ovens and warming drawers with the full surface induction hob were major factors in the design process as the owners loved to cook and bake with the children. Super practical glass splashbacks were used for ease of cleaning.
The island allows for breakfast bar living whilst still having the family dining table close by.The client want to utilise the whole area to create a beautiful family living space, with each section linking through to the next.
Contrasts of materials such as copper really add a strong statement. The owners were able to make the most of this with the help of Vanessa Grape Interiors.
Maximum use has been made of the Gaggenau Vario Cool fridge freezer. Two large doors at the top open to a fridge with great pullout freezer storage at low level. Partnered with slightly shallower larder storage whilst allowing for clearance around the breakfast bar.
Kohler stainless steel sinks have been coupled with the QuookerFusion boiling water tap. A must in every kitchen.
Handless drawers with Blum softclose running gear all add up to a stunning kitchen, even on the inside.Mixtures of oak and white lacquer are soft and bring the space together and make the kitchen very much a bespoke creation.
Tall larder storage with adjustable oak shelving and solid oak racking to the rear of the doors brings the goods to you rather than you burrowing to the rear of the cabinet.
With space at a premium Simon has created a self enclosed utilities cupboard with fully functioning sink and tap and even a hanging rail for the delicates. No one needs to know it’s even there.
The transformation is now complete and our client is very happy with the result.
