Project Description
SEVENOAKS
CONTEMPORARY
The Brief
Contemporary, oak veneer. Tidy. Entertaining was important so large ovens combined with a gas hob required. A breakfast bar looking out to the garden.
Design Concept
Quite a difficult space. Two staggered rooms. One lent itself to being the kitchen, the second space had a number of doors including French doors opening out into the garden. We could not get enough storage space purely in the space allocated for the kitchen and we needed to forcefully link these two areas.
The Solution
Oak veneered cupboards with solid oak detailing. Moulded oak handles as part of each door and drawer. No open shelves nothing that could attract any form of clutter.
A combination of large Gagennau ovens and a warming drawer and an eye level microwave really answered the entertaining question and the Gaggenau design worked well with our furniture. The gas hob has a powerful central ring for cooking with a wok.
The island looks a little bare without stools but is perfect. The final shape allows for the free flow of traffic around it and it is a very useful space when walking in with lots of shopping. The addition of a wine fridge into this bank of tall cupboards helped to tie the design together and ticks the entertainment box once again.
